How To Prevent Shoulder Pain From Getting Worst

Shoulder pain is one of the most common complaints heard by doctors. And, once you have it, it's all too easy for it to get worse. Here are a few tips on how to prevent shoulder pain from getting worse:

  1. Don't ignore it. Shoulder pain is not something that will just go away on its own. If you're experiencing pain, see your doctor to get a diagnosis and treatment plan.
  2. Don't play through the pain. If you have shoulder pain, don't try to tough it out and continue your normal activities. This will only make the pain worse and can lead to further injury.
  3. Do some stretches and strengthening exercises. Stretching and strengthening the muscles around the shoulder can help prevent pain and keep the joint mobile. Ask your doctor or physiotherapist for some recommended exercises.
  4. Use heat or cold therapy. Applying heat or cold to the affected area can help reduce pain and inflammation. Heat pads or warm baths may be helpful, while ice packs or cold compresses can be soothing for acute pain.
  5. Use over-the-counter medication judiciously. Pain relievers such as ibuprofen can help reduce inflammation and pain relief, but they should only be used as directed by your doctor (never exceed the recommended dosage). In addition, these medications can have side effects, so be sure to talk to your doctor before taking them long-term.
