Understanding Plantar Fasciitis Release Surgery:
Reasons and Surgical Procedure

Plantar fasciitis release surgery is typically performed in cases where conservative treatments have failed to provide relief from plantar fasciitis symptoms. The surgery aims to alleviate pain and inflammation by partially cutting or releasing the tight plantar fascia, the thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot. The procedure is done for the following reasons:

The surgical procedure involves making small incisions in the foot near the plantar fascia. The surgeon then carefully releases or partially cuts the plantar fascia to reduce tension. In some cases, other procedures may be performed concurrently, such as removing bone spurs or addressing underlying structural issues. After the surgery, a period of rest, rehabilitation, and physical therapy is typically recommended to aid in the recovery process.
