Difference between Plantar Fasciitis and Common Heel Pain

If you're dealing with heel pain, you're not alone. In fact, about 1 in 10 people will deal with this issue at some point in their lives. But just because heel pain is common doesn't mean it's always the same. In fact, there are a number of different conditions that can cause heel pain, the most common of which is plantar fasciitis. So what's the difference between plantar fasciitis and common heel pain?

Plantar fasciitis is caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a tough band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot. This condition is often characterized by a sharp, stabbing pain in the heel that is worse when you first get out of bed in the morning.

Common heel pain, on the other hand, can have a number of different causes, including Achilles tendonitis, bursitis, and even stress fractures. While the pain associated with these conditions can vary, it is typically dull and throbbing rather than sharp and stabbing. If you're not sure what's causing your heel pain, it's best to see a doctor for an accurate diagnosis.
