What is Peripheral Neuropathy?

Neuropathy is a catch-all term for a variety of conditions that cause damage to the nervous system. The most common form of neuropathy is peripheral neuropathy, which affects the peripheral nerves the nerves that connect the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body.

Peripheral neuropathy can be caused by a number of different things, including diabetes, certain infections, and exposure to toxins. It can also be a side effect of certain medications. Symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include pain, numbness, and weakness in the affected areas. In severe cases, it can lead to paralysis. While there is no cure for peripheral neuropathy, there are treatments available that can help to ease the symptoms.
