If you're like most people, you've probably experienced the occasional twinge of knee pain. Whether it's from a recent injury or simply from overexertion, knee pain is never fun. But how can you tell when your knee pain is something to worry about?
First, consider the severity of your pain. If you're able to walk and put weight on your knee without too much discomfort, then it's likely that your pain is just a result of inflammation and will eventually go away on its own. However, if your pain is so severe that you can't put weight on your knee or you feel like your joint is going to give out, then it's time to see a doctor.
Second, take note of where the pain is located. If the pain is centralized around your kneecap or in the front of your thigh, then it's likely due to an issue with your patellar tendon. However, if the pain is located in the back of your thigh or in your calf, then it could be a sign of a hamstring injury.
Finally, consider how long you've been experiencing pain. If you only started having pain within the last few days, then it's likely nothing serious. However, if you've been dealing with chronic knee pain for weeks or even months, then it's worth seeing a doctor to rule out any underlying conditions.
If you're still not sure whether or not your knee pain is something to worry about, don't hesitate to consult with a medical professional. They'll be able to help you determine whether or not further treatment is necessary.
